  • Description: Established in 1972, this historic beach welcomes all breeds and sizes, offering a wide, sandy area for pups to play and swim. It's one of the most popular off-leash dog beaches in San Diego, with no hourly restrictions. Expert surfers also enjoy a popular surf break here.

  • Hours: Daily 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM
  • Description: A serene area with calmer waters than the ocean, ideal for dogs to run on sand dunes. Dogs are allowed in all areas except for the Youth Campground and Least Tern nesting sites.

    1. Off-leash areas cover most of the beach, excluding the Youth Campground and endangered least tern bird nesting sites.

    • Description: Situated at the northern end of the beach next to the U.S. Naval Station entrance, this beach has a designated off-leash area with a foot shower and free dog litter bags at the entrance.

  • Location: Carlsbad Village Drive

      2. Leashed dogs are allowed before 9 a.m. and after 4 p.m. from Nov 1 to Mar 31, and before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m. from Apr 1 to Oct 31.
